Umar Khalid was arrested under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act for Delhi riots.
Unlike what is being told,he was not arrested merely for a speech. There is a lot more to it.See the facts and decide for yourself.
Umar Khalid:
He is a former student of JNU. He had been a recognized left student leader who was a part of the crowd that raised tukde tukde slogans.
His father is a former member of a banned student organisation called as SIMI.
Umar Khalid is arrested in Delhi riots case because:
Reason 1: Connections between Umar Khalid and Tahir Hussain:
Tahir Hussain is the main culprit of Delhi riots,against whom there are live video evidences.This Aam Aadmi Party's member has accepted meeting with Umar Khalid in January 2020 where he informed him about his plans to do something big in Delhi during Trump's visit as he was frustrated by CAA and Ram Mandir judgement.

Umar Khalid showed his support to Tahir's plan and even offered to fund his plan with the help of PFI.

Reason 2: Umar Khalid is linked with PFI:
Popular Front of India is an organisation that has been actively promoting communal divide since it's inception. Many of its founders were a part of SIMI. It is considered as the new face of SIMI after the latter was banned.
As umar's father was a member of SIMI before it was banned, his involvement with PFI comes with no surprises.
PFI has been evidently found to provide funds for Delhi riots.

Reason 3: Nature of Umar Khalid's politics:
He has based his politics on inciting muslims and other minorities against establishment. Umar Khalid is well known for the such kind of speeches where he asks his audience to come out on roads and revolt.
On 20 Feb 2020 he gave a speech calling people to gather on streets of delhi during Trumps Visit to highlight the atrocities of the establishment.

Summary of the speech: The entire speech was about 17 minutes long where Khalid invoked the false narratives of ‘targeted mob lynching’ against Muslims and then went on to say that when the Muslims did not revolt against the Ayodhya judgement by Supreme Court, the government took it for granted that they can bring any law against Muslims.Inciting the crowd further, saying the CAA has been brought to harm Muslims, Khalid says that the people should show the government its ‘Aukaad’, and take to the streets to throw it out. He further says that if enough people take to the streets, first the CAA will go, then the NPR and then NRC, eventually the government will also go.

Reason 4: Connections between Khalid Saifi and Umar Khalid:
Khalid Saifi is yet another accused in delhi riots.He and Umar together are founders of United Against Hate.
Khalid Saifi acted as a facilitator of the meeting between Tahir Hussain and umar khalid on 8th Jan 2020 in shaheen bagh.
Khalid Saifi was a close friend of both Tahir Hussain and Umar Khalid.
He arranged for overseas funds for this riots.

Even in the presence of so many evidences there are many people who call it a witch hunt:
Such self-styled “torchbearers of democracy," say that Delhi police is framing Umar Khalid on someone's orders. But, to make us believe them, they have nothing but a collection of words like student leader, peaceful activist, fascists government, revenge politics, targeting minorities and their socio-political stature they have made by hating one person.
On the other hand, we have in front of us this evidence and facts of Umar Khalid's history. Delhi police are probably working on the basis of these evidence to make a case against him after his arrest on 13 Sept 2020.
Now that Umar Khalid has been arrested, the Special Cell will have 180 days to file a charge sheet against him. So far, a charge sheet has not specifically been filed against Umar Khalid, however, in several charge sheets, the role of Umar Khalid is mentioned explicitly.
Conclusively
On one hand, we have usual suspects of the far left ecosystem and on the other, we have elected government and agencies.
So, keeping in mind all these evidence you decide do you want to consider it as a witch hunt or an honest investigation.
